My mom recommended this book to me and bought me a copy for Christmas. She kept asking me if I'd read it yet, because it was "sooooo good," so I decided to take it on holiday with me. It was alright, the plot was decent and it was well written, despite the fact that it's the writer's first book written in English. Sometimes I think that it's better to not have the book raved about prior to reading it, since it overhypes it a bit. I mean, I was expecting phenomenal literature, based on how my mom described when, in reality, the book was just decent. Maybe I would have even enjoyed it more if it hadn't been praised?
