An absolutely beautiful novel! I felt like the text was a beautifully, snuggly blanket that wrapped itself around me and carried me away...The story takes place in Florence, Italy, during the Renaissance. It follows Alessandara, a very unconventional girl in a very conventional time. She dreams of painting, a profession forbidden to women. What follows is a story full of twists and turns, all woven into a beautiful historical tale that a reader could easily get lost in. I know this because I opened the book to read one morning and, when I closed it again, I found that two hours had slipped by!
