Ick. This book was long, dry and boring. It's an account of a family's history, through the various melodramas, struggles and breakdowns. The narrative shifted between various family members, but it jumped back and forth between the all too much. I'd just get into one character's head and then, all of a sudden, I'm across the continent with that chapter's brother! I also felt like the novel was leading up to a big moment of relation that just never came. When the novel ended, the family was just as dysfunctional as they were at the beginning of the book.
